What you need to know about 9th grade

The time has come to think about whether to stay in school for another two years or go down a different path:

  • go to college, get a degree, and start working, or get an associate’s degree and then go to university;
  • go to a vocational school, get a professional education, and find a job;
  • stop studying, find a job, or take a break.

This is a year of doubts and evaluations, considerations and actions. Previously, it was the year of the State Final Examination, but now it is the last year before starting to prepare for the NMT.

How online lessons are conducted in 9th grade

A busy day for a 9th grade student

    Physical activity
The first lesson begins with an exercise. During breaks, we try to do light gymnastic exercises. Physical education takes place 2-3 times a week as a supplementary class.

    Mental activity
This is manifested in practical classes: games on the platform, team tasks, and competitions between teams (online quizzes). Knowledge checks include tests, independent work, and semester exams.

How much time does it take to study?

    Schedule
    Morning classes: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    Afternoon classes: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

    Duration
    Lesson: 45 minutes

    Independent work

    Preparation for classes
In 9th grade, students prepare for online classes using materials on the platform. This is part of the “flipped classroom” method, which is made possible by the program.

    Homework
Homework is assigned every day, and students often take short, specialized online courses on specific topics to better familiarize themselves.

What AP School teachers advise parents of ninth graders

Students in our distance learning school in 9th grade are considered sufficiently prepared to decide for themselves what to do at the end of the year. But they need their parents’ help more than ever.

    Support

When a teenager finds something that truly inspires them, parents should definitely not criticize them.
If it doesn’t match the demands of the market, we will help find resources to develop talent and apply skills.

    Learn about modern professions

We can advise the student, but you are the real authority. If you show that you understand how to find your calling in life, you will have a better chance that your child will listen to you.

    Monitor their studies

In 9th grade, teenagers often forget about subjects that are not required for their chosen profession. This is a mistake — don’t let your child make it.

    Don’t impose

Your child is not their classmate, brother, sister, or even you.
Listen to them and offer reasoned alternatives if their choice is too romantic. But don’t force them to choose something they don’t like.

Frequently asked questions about studying at an online school in 9th grade

How is assessment organized in 9th grade online?

Teachers assess independent and test work, as well as work in practical classes, in the traditional way — using a 12-point system. There is also a separate assessment for integrated courses. This assesses critical thinking, the ability to analyze information, creativity, and soft skills.

What if a student is falling behind in the program?

At our online school, every 9th grade student has the opportunity to take additional individual lessons with teachers — this option is also available to students in other grades. However, it is the graduating students who use it more often. This allows them to quickly review topics if they fall behind in the program or brush up on their knowledge before important exams.

Is there preparation for the DPA in 9th grade?

Although the State Final Assessment has been canceled for the sixth consecutive year after 2019, our program has a similar preparatory learning pace. This helps students acquire knowledge in a short period of time. It also makes it easier to pass nostrification if a student transfers to a gymnasium or preparatory courses for admission to Europe, and if the DPA is reinstated next year, the program would not have to be changed. Teachers are also ready to help students if additional preparation is needed.

How much independent work is there each week?

Compared to previous grades, the proportion of independent work in the education of 9th grade students is much higher, because, despite more complex homework assignments, students have prior preparation for lessons. But this makes learning in class much easier. Independent work is a mandatory element of a student’s education, so by adding more of it to the curriculum, we are preparing students for future challenges.
