How to prepare for the English language NMT in 2026

English is included in the list of additional subjects for the NMT, meaning that applicants can choose it among others.

English is required for admission to the following majors:

  • humanities, marketing;
  • IT, engineering, computer science;
  • international relations, law;
  • culture and arts: design, library science, etc.;
  • management, administration, and entrepreneurship;
  • architecture and pedagogy;
  • hotel and restaurant business, tourism, recreation, transportation.

You need to prepare for the test in advance, because knowledge without constant practice is forgotten. A foreign language is not something we improve on a daily basis, so preparation must be intensive and focused specifically on passing the test, rather than being distracted by the development of individual skills.

How to prepare properly?

The NMT in English meets the standards of the Common European Recommendations for Language Education, so it requires thorough preparation.

Work on common mistakes.

Pay special attention to the complex parts of language learning: collocations, phrasal verbs, idioms — those that cannot be translated literally and are not characteristic of the Ukrainian language.

Learn to manage your time

Previously, time management was not given enough attention in preparation, but today, everyone understands that the ability to manage time saves most applicants.

Use reliable sources

Your favorite blogger is not always an expert in testing, so for preparation, you need to look for information from the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment, the Ministry of Education and Science, and official representatives of education in Ukraine.

Why studying with a teacher is more effective

Study plan

Made independently
Many students write a study plan without outside help, but this does not guarantee that it will suit them; this requires experience.

Advice from experience
At AP School, we focus on creating a plan that can be followed, not just one that requires hard work.

Discipline and control

Prepare 24/7
Continuous intensive preparation, nighttime theory, and daytime practice — isn’t that how most students remember their independent testing?

Balance
The exam does not require 100% effort from the student, but rather a balanced approach: 20% effort = 80% result — this is the principle used in preparation at AP School.

Knowledge check

Abstract check
Students see their results on demo tests on online simulators – only the number of points, correct, and incorrect answers.

Specific check
The AP School teacher provides feedback, analyzes mistakes, and then focuses the class work on these mistakes.
